ELEMENTARY BOYS AND THEIR FATHERS GATHER FOR ANNUAL MELAVE MALKA
LEC’s Annual Father and Son Melava Malka for Elementary School boys and their fathers set a new benchmark—over 450 people participated in an evening of learning, which also included grandfathers and uncles, at Motzai Shabbos gathering to remember. The large gathering was a testimony to the school’s unhindered growth and reach.
The program began with its fundamental purpose—sons learning with their fathers, or an older bocher. Students who learned well were rewarded with raffle tickets to enter a Chinese auction. Rabbi Mordechai Lichy of the Chabad Spanish Center of Coral Springs honored the participants with a beautiful talk, rallying the children with his eloquent speech and storytelling.
To accommodate the large crowd, pizza had to be delivered from three different restaurants and was eaten and enjoyed by everyone. Just before Birkas Hamazon the niggunim were sung and led by Chazan Koppel Cohen. Leading into the theme of the month of Kislev, a grand fire show was then presented as both fathers and sons oohed and aahed at the mesmerizing display. The evening culminated with the Chinese auction and each student left with a souvenir treat for dessert. People, who had come from all over South Florida for a meaningful program, left united in their opinion that it was an event to remember.
