LUBAVITCH GIRLS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Since its inception almost 50 years ago, Lubavitch Elementary School has always maintained separate classes for boys and for girls under one administration. At the start of the 2013-14 school year, in response to the school’s rapid growth, two independent schools were formed. Today we are proud to offer Lubavitch Elementary School for Girls, serving girls in grades 1 to 8.
From the very beginning students are exposed to a rigorous dual-curriculum of Jewish and General Studies. The fundamentals of Hebrew reading, writing and Chumash form the solid foundation on which their Torah learning will strengthen and grow. Over the years the students will become proficient in Novi, Shoroshim, Hebrew Grammar, the weekly Torah portion, Jewish Law, Chumash Skills, general Jewish knowledge, brochos, Rashi. Jewish Law and an understanding of and appreciation for davening. Throughout the elementary school years, students are exposed to Jewish concepts and values that are learned through activities and stories which are reinforced with the Chabad philosophy of living Judaism with love and, specifically, the love of one’s fellow Jew—ahavas Yisroel.
The General Studies department is committed to a strong academic curriculum. In addition to the core subjects of math, science, social studies and English, students have an extra-curricular program of computers, physical education, art and library. A strong writing program taps into students creativity as they develop their strengths while writing poetry, essays, reports and doing research.
The academic curriculum in is enhanced by special programs, performances and competitions to strengthen what has been learned in the classroom. A highly successful Bnos Chabad program, under the enthusiastic guidance of post-seminary girls, aims to teach fundamental Chabad concepts and foster a connection with the Rebbeim and their teachings. All students in grades 1 to 6 are required to enlist in the world-wide Tzivos Hashem program.
In both the Hebrew Studies and General Studies Departments every student’s academic progress is closely monitored. Students entering Lubavitch Elementary School for Girls with a limited background in Hebrew studies will be given a number of options to ease their integration into the school program.
